Creative Art Based Group Supervision

This ten-hour supervision group is open to
professionals using art making within their practice with a range of client groups. This includes counsellors, mental-health professionals, play therapists, art therapists and others. It aims to provide a nurturing safe space to explore many facets of the work we do.

Within a group supervisory framework often as much can be learnt from our peers as the facilitator. Hearing and sharing with others enriches our own therapeutic process with a particular focus on compassionate exploration.

Benefits

  • Gain support of a group of like-minded therapists.
  • Work with a trained supervisor with over 15 years art therapy experience.
  • Use some reflective art making within the session to reflect on and enhance the therapeutic process for ourselves and the clients we work with. This can also give us a better understanding of what the client is experiencing in the art making process.
  • Have a space to share case studies, challenging work environments and boundaries.
  • Utilise the art making process for reflection, self-care and insight.
  • Access regular monthly zoom supervision sessions with no need to travel.
  • Complete 10 hours of group supervision.

Who should attend?

Any therapist currently using art making in any form in their counselling or group work, and interested in being part of a small, supportive, 5-month, supervision group.  Each supervision group we offer is a closed group to maintain safety, trust and comfort. Registrations therefore will close for each group once they have started. There is place for up to 6 therapists in this group.

What you will need:

  • A reliable internet connection;
  • A device (eg. computer or tablet) that be set up in a fixed position for the group duration with a camera you can keep on;
  • A private room for the group, free of distractions to allow you to focus and to maintain confidentiality;
  • Any art supplies you might like to use (eg, paper, pens, pencils, textas, oil pastels, chalk pastels, paints, clay or craft materials, such as magazines you’d be happy to cut for images) for creative reflection exercises.

Group Facilitator – Judy King

Judy is a registered art psychotherapist and practicing artist. She has also been a registered nurse for over thirty years working with trauma in varying capacities. Nurturing, health and art are her passions; Art therapy has given her the ability to combine these as a powerful marriage between nursing and creativity.

Her therapeutic work over many years has encompassed early intervention, at-risk adolescents in the school system, survivors of domestic violence, chronic pain sufferers, extensive aspects of mental health, adult and paediatric palliative care.

She is an experienced Clinical supervisor working both on line or face to face.
