Webinar Description
90-minute webinar
Gain a practical insight into how Intentional Practice can build your knowledge and skills in your counselling methods in this LIVE 90 minute webinar.
Intentional Practice is a training approach that essentially has therapists practicing therapy strategies on themselves and then reflecting on that experience, from both a personal and professional lens.
The insights that can be learned from such a process can be eye-opening, as we experience first hand the things we ask from our clients. It also provides a process through which we can sharpen our conceptual understanding and technical skills. In this session, Janelle will introduce you to this approach, share her insights as a practitioner of the model, and provide the opportunity to engage in a guided self-practice/self-reflection experience.

Presenter - Dr Janelle Levesque |
 | | Janelle describes her career as “following opportunities and being excited about the possibilities”. She originally trained as a primary school teacher, before turning to psychology as her second career. After completing her psychology degree, she completed a PhD, exploring post-traumatic growth in adults who have a parent with cancer. She then worked in psycho-oncology research, working with couples, and culturally diverse patients and caregivers to develop interventions to help adjustment to receiving a cancer diagnosis and the challenges of caring for someone with cancer. In 2019, she decided it was time to learn her craft and returned to study to complete a Master of Professional Psychology before completing her internship within emergency services. In 2024, Janelle opened her private practice and decided the time was right to re-engage with working with children and adolescents, recognising that creative and play based approaches are ideal for working with such groups – which led her to the Sydney Centre for Creative Change. |
