Course overview

Children who have been sexually traumatized are in need of our clinical services.  Using the best elements of both directive and non-directive play therapy approaches with these traumatized children allows for healing and repair of losses associated with sexual trauma like innocence, trust, and appropriate boundaries.  In this Master Class, participants will learn about sexual development in children, the psychological markers of sexual trauma, and the special issues these children present in play therapy including consulting with non-offending parents, dealing with the powerful impact of counter transference, and setting limits.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify sexualized play in play therapy;
  • Replicate techniques suitable in play therapy for children who have traumatized sexually;
  • Utilize skills to alleviate issues of countertransference;
  • Connect with like-minded play therapy professionals in the field for supportive skills development.

Please note, this LIVE and INTERACTIVE training event will be recorded and available to Gold Members for 3 months. Practice in break out rooms will not be recorded.

Training methods will include:

  • Interactive presentations
  • Large group discussions
  • Pair and small group discussions
